Lan is a Graduate Intern in Counseling with a robust educational background and extensive experience in public health working with diverse populations. Lan holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from James Madison University (2003) and a Master of Public Health from George Washington University (2005). Currently, Lan is pursuing a Master of Arts in Counseling at Eastern Mennonite University.
With over 10 years of experience, Lan has worked in various settings, including research, community centers, detox/drop-in centers, displacement and incarceration environments. Lan is dedicated to assisting individuals dealing with anxiety, depression, substance abuse, trauma, and mental health challenges related to chronic illness, providing care to adolescents, young adults, adults, and older adults.
Lan's therapeutic approach is rooted in empathy, respect, and authenticity, blending Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), person-centered, meaning-seeking, and mindfulness practices. This approach enhances self-awareness by cultivating innate compassion, wisdom, strengths, and insights, fostering a path of self-discovery, self-acceptance, and self-fulfillment.
Passionate about integrative therapeutic practices, Lan is committed to fostering personal growth in a compassionate, supportive, affirming therapeutic environment. Lan strives to create a safe space where clients feel valued and respected, empowering them to engage in their own healing and self-discovery journeys. Lan is proficient in Chinese and brings a multicultural perspective, backed by her experience in international health and development across various countries. In addition to work, Lan enjoys traveling, spending time in nature, reading, cooking, watching movies, and tending to a garden and many houseplants.
