Tina Schilling, MSW is a dedicated professional with a rich educational background and extensive experience in various fields. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Sociology from The College of New Jersey in May 1993, followed by a Master of Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University in May 2011, and a Master of Divinity from the Baptist Theological Seminary of Richmond in May 2013. As an LCSW Supervisee, Tina holds licensure as a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator from both the Virginia Department of Health Professions and the Department of Health Board of Long-Term Care Administration in the District of Columbia.

With over a decade of experience in hospice care, Tina has served in roles such as Counseling Department Manager, Social Worker, Chaplain, and Bereavement Program Manager, providing comprehensive support through group, individual, and family counseling. Her tenure at the Virginia Department of Health Office of Licensure and Certification involved inspecting long-term care facilities to ensure regulatory compliance and quality of care. Additionally, she has worked in continuing care communities, skilled long-term care administration, and has provided spiritual supportive counseling for over 15 years.

Tina’s expertise spans bereavement, grief, end-of-life care, LGBTQIA+ support (identity, expression, counseling support), geriatric and caregiver support, healthcare professional support, and counseling for individuals, families, couples, and groups dealing with adjustment, transitions, anxiety, depression, memory loss, and spiritual exploration and concerns. She serves a diverse age group, including adolescents, young adults, adults, and older adults. Her therapeutic approach is client-centered and strengths-based, incorporating techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, mindfulness, systems theory, narrative therapy, and creative methods.

Passionate about mental health counseling, Tina believes in the transformative power of empathy and respect for each individual’s unique experiences. She strives to create a supportive, non-judgmental space for clients to explore their inner world, build resilience, and achieve meaningful change. In her free time, Tina enjoys playing basketball, learning to dance, writing for publication, pastoring, traveling, and spending quality time with her four adult children, friends, and two cats.
